Description
Controlled Substance Bins (gray bins) are an optional accessory and can replace general purpose (white) bins in a cabinet or cassette. These bins are gray in color and can be locked by the keyed lock in the cassette. A cabinet or cassette can be filled with 0-6 controlled substance bins.
Purpose
When used in the cabinet, the controlled substance bins are locked by the electronic locks in the cabinet, similarly to the standard white bins. However, the keyed lock on the cassette provides a secondary lock for the controlled substance bins. The general purpose (white) bins are not affected by the keyed cassette lock. Therefore, the controlled substance bins can be double locked while the general purpose bins will have a single lock inside the cabinet.
When a cassette is removed from the cabinet, the keyed cassette lock serves as the primary lock for controlled substance bins. The general purpose bins are not locked when the cassette is removed from the cabinet (see “Using the Keyed Cassette Lock”, Section 5.1.5)
