Double Locks

When medications are designated to require a double-locking system after opening a bin containing them, a second PIN will be required to open that bin. These designations are made under the Facility Drug Administration. User accounts are optionally provided with a second PIN when they are created (see Adding New Users).

Countbacks

A medication may also be designated to require a count back whenever a bin containing those specified medications is opened. When this occurs, a screen will appear with the medication that needs to be counted, the amount that should be present and options asking if the count is correct or incorrect. After counting the medication, fill out the corresponding option by pressing it.

If the count is incorrect, a new screen will appear asking the user to enter the amount that they counted.

The system will update the count of that medication with the number entered and note the discrepancy in the user log (see User Logs)

If a bin contains multiple medications and the one being used does not require a count or double lock, but another medication in the bin does, the user will still need to count the other medication and/or enter a second PIN to unlock that bin. Medications that require a double lock or count are determined and set by the cabinet administrator. However, it should be noted that these features are MANDATORY when a controlled substance is present.
